Kangding's new airport in operation

At 4,280 meters above sea level, Kangding Airport is the world's second in height next to the Qamdo Airport of Tibet Autonomous Region. The three-letter airport code is KGT.  The airport is located 3-4 hours drive from Kangding town and less than one hour from Tagong.  There two flights each day, one each to/from Chengdu and Kunming.   As of June 2009 the schedule and costs are:

　

Kangding to Chengdu, from 10:50 am to 11:30am.

Chengdu to Kangding: from 9:30 am to 10:10 am

The price is 980 rmb each way.  Outside of peak travel periods, it's possible to get a discount of up to 40%.

 

Kangding to Kunming, from 10:50  to 13:30

Kunming to Kangding, from 7:30 am to 10:10 am

The price is 1260rmb each way and you can get up to a 44% discount.
