PROGRAMS FOR PRESERVATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE

Heritage Report Now On-Line. Read report...

From 2004 to 2007 Kham Aid teamed up with Winrock International and
Fauna & Flora International to create the Sustainable Tibetan Communities project in western Kangding County.  Major funding for this effort came from USAID.  Kham Aid developed several projects,
many of which are continuing into 2008 and beyond.

Preservation of ancient architecture and art

Vocational training in traditional Tibetan construction

Artisan training and handicrafts development

We also serve as advisors to Winrock's grants program.  In this role we assisted local Tibetan organizations with the following:

Training for monks on fire prevention

 Conference on cultural heritage conservation

See also this new book:  Tibetan Rescue by Pamela Logan,  about her epic four-year effort at Baiya (Pewar) Monastery to preserve its precious Buddhist art.
