White Buddha
The white Buddha represents the empty and open aspect of awakened mind as well as purity and power of the enlightened mind's loving kindness and compassion. He sits on a lotus and the flat disc of the moon, reflecting his total purity. He wears the silks and ornaments of a Bodhisattva representing all his special qualities. He smiles with deep understanding, love and compassion.
Both of Buddha's hands are in the shape of the Dharmachakra (Wheel of Dharma) mudra. This gesture symbolizes one of the most important moments in the life of Buddha, the occasion when he preached to his companions the first sermon after his Enlightenment in the Deer Park at Sarnath. The circle formed by the touching thumb and finger represents the Wheel of Dharma, or in metaphysical terms, the union of method and wisdom.
This image is marred by a coating of some sort of dirt that is spread more or less evenly all over the surface, dulling the colors and blurring the painting's fine detail.
