Gongga Shan/Minya Konka Area
We are currently collecting traveler's information about this area, including trekking on all sides of the mountain, and the glacier park Hailougou. Here is what we have so far:
Tibetan guest house in Lao (old) Yulin village

This summer, I and my four friends started to set up a Tibetan Kham style house in in Lao Yulin village. We are working in Shenzhen which is a modern city and has good economy level. But we love Kham, we want to do something for Kham economy, Kham people and education, and protecting environment. The house is for those travelers who are by themselves and have high character especially the environmentalists .
Our house will for budget traveling people and climber who are have environment knowledge, and the amount is small relatively. But it is unavoidable that more and more tourists go for Kongka mountain along with the social development and information transmission especially by Internet .
The earning from the house will be used for the education, and protecting environment for Lao Yulin village and other villages in Konka mountains. Now, I'm doing the websites for our house: www.7556.org.
In the past 4 years, I have been to Tibetan area for 10 times. I'm a volunteer of a China NGO "green -river" ,and become a leader of volunteers in Guangdong Province. Its website: www.green-river.orgDirections to the guesthouse:
1 It is about 12KM
from Kangding county seat to Lao Yulin village. The village is on the road
toward Hailuogou (Moxi). New Yulin village is closer to the Kangding county
seat, in the past, there just exist a village Yulin. Now the population is more
and there are Han nationality and Tibetan in New Yulin village, and most people
are Tibetan in Lao Yulin village.
2 In the map,the site
where a small red flag is painted is the Lao Yulin village.Our guest house lies
in the southern Lao Yulin village 0.5KM. The southest white tower belongs to
Duoji, and our house is here.
3 It cost about 12 Yuan
RMB to arrive there from Kangding county seat to the house.Or there have two
regular buses from from Kangding county seat to Hailuogou (Moxi),which is by the
house. It is about 2-3 Yuan RMB.
4 Duoji is a famous
man,he is my foster father.We give cash payment and he provides the [land for
the guest house]. He is familiar with the Minya Konka area, and lead the USA,
Japan or other foreign mountaineer teams into climbing camp. He is virtuous man,
and learn some good virtues that the good foreign tourists bring such as not
abandoning the wastes, plastic material......In the villages in Konka mountain,
spread the propaganda for protecting wild animal and plants.
In the New Yulin
village or Lao Yulin village, if wanting to find the house, you should ask
anybody: "I want to meet the Duoji of Lao Yulin village, who is 55 years old and
is a after hours mountain guide" .Then it is easy to find Duoji and the house,
because many Tibetan have the same name.
