VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR for 2007: Eunice Shen

Kham Aid Foundation is proud to announce that the director of our Wheelchair Program, Eunice Shen, has been named Volunteer of the Year for 2007. Eunice has been a dedicated volunteer with Kham Aid Foundation since 2001, rendering assistance to hundreds of disabled people, helping them achieve mobility, improving their quality of life, and freeing their family members from the most back-breaking aspect of providing daily care.

In 2007 Eunice made her fifth trip to Kham, and she is preparing foranother mission in April, 2008.  On these trips she uses her skills as a physical therapist to distribute wheelchairs, so far providing chairs to 850 people in Kham and to giving treatment to hundreds more. She has always led her volunteer teams by example, paying for her own airfare and raising funds from family and friends to support the purchase and shipment of wheelchairs to remote counties in Kham.

When not helping people on the Tibetan plateau, Eunice pursues a career in pediatric physical therapy working for the County of Los Angeles, simultaneously earning a PhD and serving as treasurer for the American Physical Therapy Association's Section on Pediatrics. Kham Aid Foundation would like to thank Eunice for all her dedication and hard work, and to recognize her exemplary spirit of service and her tremendous contributions to the people of Kham.

Congratulations, Eunice!
